Time to Transport the Big Head
Well, it was time! The big head has been slooooowly drying and it was time to bring her home to the kiln. I will let her dry some more before firing though – no need to rush it after I have spent so much time building her! A slow and thorough drying is the best way to avoid cracks in such a large piece. My awesome hubby got roped into helping me move her (as he knew he would!) and surprisingly, with the two of us lifting her, she wasn’t that heavy! She still has some water in the clay, but without her horns, I would say that she is just over 50lbs. Man, I sure hope this gal fires with no problems!
Here’s some pics of us moving her~
