Work in Progress 2

Wow.  I feel like I’ve been working on this sculpture forever.  Well, I guess I have.  I started it at the beginning of the summer, and slowly worked on it in between trips, and company in town.  Now that I’m not traveling, I’ve been able to work on it more, and actually make some progress.  I built a head for it and started adding a wing to the torso.  Considering the size of this sculpture, I guess it’s not surprising that it has taken so long to complete.  One of my favorite galleries told me that she wanted more “major” pieces.  Well, I do believe that this piece will qualify as “major” if I can get it finished!!

I think she looks a little like a mannequin without the wig 🙂 But I’ll give her something on her head… Not sure what, but I’ll figure it out!

So that’s it for now.  I’m looking forward to school starting and having more of a set routine in the studio.  Hope everyone’s summer is finishing on a good note!

Wow Kelly it looks amazing! – and your little girl, what a cutie. Definitely a major piece… I hope you will share more progression photos as you continue creating. I too am enjoying the summer, but understand your looking forward to the structure of the fall. It will be different this year, as both of my daughters are finished high school – one heading to year 2 university, the other to travels in Europe.

Kim! Oh my – both of your girls are done with high school. Wow. Talk about big changes! I think the routine of the fall will be good for us this year. Summer has been so nutty and we’ve had some family illness too… Thanks for the kind words on the sculpture. I’m having fun with her, but WOW I feel like I’ve been working on her forever! 🙂

Kelly, your new work is fabulous – I wonder what it will look like when it is finished. I love it already. You are such an amazing artist. I wish I lived closer to you so that I could see your work in “real life”.
Your little helper is too cute!!!
