Sunflowers and Fear, two seemingly unrelated things

Quote by Mark Danielewski
Fear.  I love this quote.  It’s just one of those things you see on Facebook these days, but this one really stuck with me.  So often, I think fear stops us from achieving our goals and/or dreams.  Fear of failure, fear of success, fear of being judged or fear of looking silly.  I know I have certainly felt all of those things, but I just try to tell myself that all of this is a part of my bones.  A part of my soul.  Just make the art, let it come, and to hell with being judged!  So that’s why I’ve included this quote for you today.  I know I certainly needed that reminder earlier today!

And as far as my new painting goes – I’ve just finished it recently.  It says “She Always Felt Like There Were Sunflowers In Her Past”.  It’s a mixed media painting, with image transfers of my photos.  I loved the thought of her – with her horns and that not-so-friendly expression – having something as free and beautiful as sunflowers in her history.  She can deny it all she wants; it’s a part of her, a part of her soul.
